The PEERRS Export Controls training module provides an overview of the U.S. Export Control regulations in relation to research activity and describes the concepts, processes, and policies U-M researchers need to follow to be export compliant.

Course Requirements

Who should take this course?

Faculty, students, and staff listed on a U-M technology control plan (TCP) are required to complete the PEERRS Export Controls course.  

What is the course duration?

Expect to spend approximately 1 hour completing the PEERRS Export Controls course.  To receive certification for this course you must review every page of the course and complete the compliance attestation at the end of the course.

Do I need to renew certification in this course?

Certification in the PEERRS Export Controls course is required every three years for the lifetime of the TCP.  The Export Controls Program (ECP) notifies learners via an email in the eResearch Proposal Management (eRPM) system of pending certification expirations.  The certification is renewable by re-taking the course.
